LAW OFFICERS IN NIGERIA: NBA SETS UP JOINT WORKING COMMITTEE TO ADDRESS PECULIAR CHALLANGES

Dear Colleagues,

As you may be aware, there have been perennial issues affecting law officers in Nigeria both in respect of the activities of the NBA and the welfare of law officers generally. The NBA President had, in the course of the recent electioneering and during a subsequent meeting with the leadership of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) promised to look into these issues with a view to finding lasting solutions to them.

Accordingly, the NBA President – Mr. Olumide Akpata, has now set up a Joint Working Committee of the NBA and LOAN to investigate the peculiar issues affecting Law Officers in Nigeria and make appropriate recommendations to the NBA.

The Joint Working Committee which is made up of equal number of representatives from the NBA and LOAN consists of the following members:

1. Seun Abimbola SAN – Chairman
2. Aikhunegbe Anthony Malik SAN
3. Mr. Uzo Enwere
4. Humphrey Usha
5. Mrs. Hajia Adama
6. Haruna Mohammed
7. Comr. Joseph Olodiama Jebba
8. Comr. Awesome Afolabi Andrew
9. Comr. Timothy Emeje
10. Comr. Gowon Ochiltree
11. Comr. Ndidi Gladys Okowa
12. Comr. Alhassab Muhammed

The NBA urges all lawyers and stakeholders to co-operate with members of the committee (who have demonstrated understanding of the issues), in working out solutions to the challenges.
