A former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law, (NBA-SBl) Mr Olumide Akpata has emerged new President of the NBA

The 2020 Elections into National offcies of the NBA opened at about 11p.m. on July 29, with a total number of 29, 635 accredited voters.

A total number of 18, 256 ballots were submitted out of the total number of accredited voters.

The voting which spanned a period of 24-hours, ending at 11p.m. on Thursday, finally saw the emergence of Akpata as new NBA President with a total of 9,891 votes.

The election result which was announced by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) Mr Tawo.E. Tawo shows as follows.

For the office of the NBA President, Olumide Akpata won with a total of 9,891 votes

Other Presidential contenders are: Dr. Babatunde Ajibade (SAN) who polled a total of and Deacon Dele Adesina with a total of 4,328 and 3,982 votes respectively.

Other elected officers for the various offices include:

Mr John Aikpokpo-Martins as NBA first Vice President with a total of 6,010 votes.

Mr Adeyemo Kazeem as NBA Second Vice President with a total number of 8,794 votes.

Mrs Joyce Oduah as NBA General Secretary with a total number of 8, 979.

Mrs Uchenna Nwadialo as Assistant General Secretary with a total number of 7,314 votes.

Mrs Mercy Agada as NBA Treasurer with 100 percent votes unoppsoed.

Mr Nnamdi Anagor as Financial Secretary with 100 percent votes unopposoed.

Mr Olukunle Edun as NBA Welfare Secretary with a total number of 9,001 votes.

Dr. Rapulu Nduka as NBA Publicity Secretary with a total number of 11,964 votes.

Mr Naza Afam as NBA Assistant Publicity Secretary with a total number of 6,490 votes

Olumide Akpata is a graduate of Law from the University of Benin, Nigeria,

He is the Senior Partner at Templar’s, a leading commercial law firm. He will lead the new NBA executives which will be sworn in at a later date, and will serve a two-year tenure to elapse in 2022.
