When you deal with other security agencies ,you will understand the meaning of the aphorism that "The Police is Your Friend,".

It is with this quote of mine that I introduce this article that is a garland of honour for one of Nigeria 's Finest Crime Bursters, a Super Cop , A Peace Maker ,Joy Giver , Up Right and Accommodating Police Officer -the Retiring Assistant Inspector General of Police,Zone 5 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force -AIG Salman Dogo Garba FDC as he bows out of the largest police Force in Africa in grand style with heads held high .

It was Winston Churchill that said that We make a living by what we earn ,but we make a life by what we give .

AIG Salman Dogo Garba has given his all in his job .Content , Sobre and Taciturn, the AIG's life is an Exemplar that Police Job is not a business , it is for service.

As Commissioner of Police Kano State Command ,the AIG was very instrumental in maintaining peace in the volatile struggle of who will wear the crown of Emir of Kano .Before then , he has distinguished himself as CP Armament,Force Headquarters,Louis Edet House ,Abuja .

It was Norman Cousin that said that the tragedy of life is not that we die , but what does inside us while we live .

As AIG Zone Headquarters, he changed the paradigm.The AIG stopped unnecessary and authorized patrols .Under his watch a brand new investigators room and offices were built and commissioned .He re-roofed the facility known as Zone 5 Headquarters, brought a brand new solar system,stopped prolonged detentions of suspects , he ensured prompt approval of petitions and he stopped petition racketeering,among many other achievements too numerous to mention .

If you are a security officer or security man , ask yourself this question:" when I retire , what will I be remembered for ?"

Biography of AIG Salman-Dogo Garba

AIG Salman-Dogo Garba,
Born on July 21, 1966, in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State, AIG Garba hails from Pakata and has a rich academic background, including a degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet ASP and trained at the Police Academy Annex in Kaduna.

Throughout his over 34-year career, AIG Garba has held numerous key roles across various departments such as Operations, Criminal Investigations, Intelligence, and Finance & Administration. His assignments have spanned the country, including notable roles in the FCT, Delta, Osun, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Anambra, and Bauchi States. He previously served as Commissioner of Police in Kano State and at the FCID headquarters, Abuja.

Promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) on February 12, 2025, he brings extensive operational, administrative, and intelligence experience to the Nigerian Police Force. He has attended several advanced policing and leadership courses both locally and internationally, enhancing his capacity as a professional and strategic law enforcement officer.

AIG Garba emphasizes a commitment to professional, proactive, and people-oriented policing aligned with the vision of the current Inspector-General of Police. He appeals to the public for cooperation in providing timely information to combat crime effectively in the region. He is married with children and enjoys basketball, travel, and social engagement.
