Benin writers society Offers Condolences and Pays Tribute to Late Pa Moses Efosa Okaeben

The Benin Writers’ Society mourns the passing of Late Pa Moses Efosa Okaeben-the father of the effervescent and astute Supporter of the Arts and Creative Activities-Hon Chris Okaeben, a life that spanned 84 remarkable years, a life that bore witness to the power of wisdom, integrity, and love. Yet, as we mourn, we also celebrate his life and times, for his journey was a masterclass in living fully, serving generously, and leaving a legacy that will outlive time itself.

Pa Okaeben was more than a man, he was a pillar, a guide, a presence that inspired and nurtured all who crossed his path. His life was a bridge between generations, a beacon for family, friends, and the community he cherished. His hands built futures, his words sowed hope, his actions whispered lessons of patience, dignity, and perseverance.

As Marcus Aurelius once said, “The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.”

Pa Okaeben’s soul was painted in the vibrant hues of love, wisdom, and generosity. Every life he touched bears the imprint of his thoughtfulness, his guidance, and his unwavering care.It is therefore not a surprise that his Obsequious has been more like a Carnival than a funeral.There is indeed a difference between ",A Celebration of Life " and "A Painful Exit.Pa Okaeben 's Obsequious is the former , a demonstration of a life well lived and worthy of emulation .

In the words of Kahlil Gibran, “For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.”

Indeed, his departure is not an end, but a continuation,a return to the greater flow of existence, leaving ripples of influence that will forever move through the lives of those he loved.

Helen Keller reminds us, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

Pa Okaeben’s life exemplified this truth. He built connections, nurtured relationships, and shaped communities, not for recognition, but for the enduring good of all around him.

And as Leonardo da Vinci beautifully observed, “As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well used brings happy death.”

Indeed, Pa Okaeben’s 84 years were well-spent: a life rich in purpose, in love, in learning, and in service.

The Benin Writers’ Society honours the extraordinary journey of Late Pa Moses Efosa Okaeben. We celebrate the wisdom he shared, the lives he touched, the legacy he left, and the light that will continue to shine in his memory. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in hearts, in minds, and in the very fabric of the community he cherished so dearly.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his life continue to inspire courage, love, and wisdom for generations yet to come.
