The Chairman of Apapa Local Government Area, Lagos State, Mrs Idowu Senbanjo, has charged delegates from Apapa to the African Union Leadership Youth Summit in Ethiopia to be good Nigerian ambassadors.
Senbanjo gave the charge at a farewell ceremony organised for the delegates by the council.
The chairman described the delegates as the first to be sponsored by the council, urging them to project a good image of Nigeria.
The summit will start on Wednesday and end on Friday.
It will have the theme “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice for African Youth and People of African Descent Through Reparation”.
Senbanjo said that the council would continue to prioritise youth development.
She charged the delegates to represent Apapa, Lagos State and Nigeria excellently.
“Participate actively and strive for top roles at the summit.
“The knowledge and experience you will acquire at the summit should be shared with other youths in Apapa upon your return.
“This will inspire growth and development at the grassroots,” she said.
In his remarks, Dr Seriki Ishola, the All Progressive Congress Lagos State Youth Leader and Member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, commended Apapa Local Government for dedication to youth development.
Ishola described the council chairman as a visionary leader who had continuously provided platforms for young people to thrive.
He urged the delegates to see their participation at the summit as a call to leadership, responsibility and service
